    The Health Careers course at Lyco CTC is designed for 10th - 12th grade students who are interested pursuing a career in healthcare or continued education in a health related field after high school graduation.  

    This program exposes students to both clinical and administrative careers in healthcare, and provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in their chosen path.  The main focuses of this class include: 

    • Medical Terminology - The student will learn the language of healthcare, so he/she is able to communicate with other healthcare providers, read the medical record, and document any observations and care given.
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology - The student will learn the structure and function of the human body, as well as common disorders that affect each body system.  Human growth and development are also learned.
    • Medical Assisting & Nurse Assisting Skills - The student will learn basic care giving skills, such as:  measuring vital signs, height and weight, providing CPR/First Aid, assisting with bathing, grooming, and eliminiation needs of patients, moving and transferring patients, administering medication and oxygen, performing ECG's, etc.
