Welcome to Criminal Justice / Law Enforcement!

The Criminal Justice / Law Enforcement Program at Lyco CTC is a program for 10-12th grade students to learn about the law enforcement and criminal justice fields.  The class is run as a para-military program, mirroring a typical police department or sheriff’s office. The students will experience what a typical police academy would be like if they were to attend the Municipal Academy or the State Police Academy.

Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement is held five days a week, classes are 2 hours in the morning and a little over 2 hours in the afternoon.  Students are able to receive their academic classes at their sending schools in the morning or afternoon and then are bused into Lyco CTC for their Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement class.

Some examples of what we work on during the year are close order drill, physical training, case law, court room procedures, Pennsylvania Crimes Code and Vehicle Code, arrest procedures, investigations, building searches, handcuffing, vehicle stops, etc.  We will also dive into the different types of careers a criminal justice students could pursue and the qualifications for those careers.

If you are a third year senior you may be eligible to go on an internship within the criminal justice field with a local employer. Internships are limited and only those students showing proficiency and dedication will be chosen to go on an internship.

If you think you are interested in this program, talk to your high school counselor. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Jeremy Brown.
